The national tour of Some Like It Hot currently gracing the Kravis Center stage through Jan 11, 2026 is pure theatrical magic. This vibrant musical adaptation proves that classic stories can be reimagined with fresh perspective while maintaining their timeless appeal.

What strikes you immediately is the show's infectious energy. From the opening number, the production establishes itself as a high-octane celebration of music, dance, and storytelling. The choreography is absolutely thrilling—watching the ensemble execute intricate tap sequences with such precision and enthusiasm is mesmerizing. Each dance number builds on the last, culminating in show-stopping moments that leave audiences breathless.

The performances are uniformly excellent. The leads bring tremendous charisma to their roles, finding the perfect balance between comedy and genuine emotion. Their chemistry lights up the stage, whether delivering witty banter or tender moments of connection. The supporting cast matches this energy beat for beat, creating a cohesive ensemble that feels alive and engaged throughout. Dequina Moore shines as "Sweet Sue" and "Leandra Ellis-Gaston" glimmers as Sugar Kane. The dynamic duo of Joe/Josephine played by Matt Loehr and Jerry/Daphne portrayed by Tavis Kordell was pure joy!

What elevates this production beyond mere entertainment is its willingness to explore deeper themes. The show thoughtfully examines identity and self-discovery without losing its sense of fun. And this show is great fun with tons of comedic moments! There was one point where Loehr and Kordell are trying to explain where they orginated from as they attempt to join an all girl band and they mention they grew up in a Catholic orphanage and were in a band called "Hail Mary Full of Bass." It was bass-ically one of the funniest lines in the show.

The technical elements deserve praise as well. The costumes capture the glamour and style of the era beautifully, while the scenic design creates a visually stunning world that transports audiences back in time. The musical score features numbers that range from sultry ballads to rousing showstoppers, all performed with vocal excellence by the talented cast.

Some Like It Hot succeeds because it understands what makes great musical theater. It entertains while also touching the heart. It's a production that invites you to laugh, tap your feet, and feel something genuine. The Kravis Center has brought audiences a truly special theatrical experience—one that celebrates joy, acceptance, and the transformative power of being true to yourself.

Don't miss this dazzling production while it's still in town. Some Like It Hot runs through Jan. 11, 2026 at Kravis Center. Get tickets here.

Kravis Center also thoughtfully has live music playing before the show starts so it's a great incentive to get there early! On opening night of Some Like It Hot Spider Cherry was entertaining the crowd with their signature mashups of hits! Here is a little clip of Spider Cherry performing the Ghostbusters' theme song and morphing into "Play That Funky Music."

My aunt JD Danner attending this production of Some Like It Hot and we had a blast! Here are some shots from the night:
