South Florida-based '80s cover band Mixtape absolutely demolished Sharkey's on Friday night with a show-stopping performance that reminded everyone why the decade of excess is still priceless. Their rendition of Heart's "These Dreams" was pure enchantment.

Lindsay Giova's vocals soared with mystical intensity while Fernando Santomaggio's beautiful backing vocals and bass work elevated the performance, weaving gorgeous harmonies for delightful atmospheric layers. The multi-talented Santomaggio also just released a debut album of original tunes, Möbius Dick last month. You can learn more about his original tunes here.

With Mike Elmore on guitar and Steve Kaminer on keys, it created those signature ethereal textures that enrich this song with an almost angelic quality.  Paco Camara's shimmering percussion added to the overall delicateness of the song.

Mixtape then took an explosive take on Pat Benatar's "Invincible" with power and fierce conviction, and also performed a super kicky cover of Nancy Sinatra's anthem "These Boots Are Made For Walkin."

What makes Mixtape extraordinary is the wealth of experience these five seasoned professionals bring to every performance. Mixtape doesn't just cover 80s classics—they resurrect them with the passion and skill they deserve. If you missed them at Sharkey's, make sure to catch their next show.
