I attended the spectacular production of Peter Pan at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts in Fort Lauderdale on May 6. From the moment the house lights dimmed, this reimagined classic transported the audience to Neverland with breathtaking flight sequences and enchanting performances.

The production featured stunning set design that seamlessly transitioned between the Darling children's bedroom and the lush, vibrant world of Neverland. The flying scenes were nothing short of magical—not just Peter, played by the dazzling Kruz Maldonado, but Wendy (Aubrie-Mei Rubel), John (Owen Suarez), and Michael (Zaynn Arora) all took to the air with graceful, natural movements that had the audience gasping in delight during "I'm Flying."

The cast delivered powerhouse performances, with exceptional vocal talent bringing beloved songs like "I Gotta Crow," "When I Went Home," and "I Won't Grow Up" to vibrant life. The chemistry between Peter Pan and the Lost Boys created many heartwarming moments, while Captain Hook and Smee provided perfect comedic villainy.

This new adaptation by playwright Larissa FastHorse, directed by Emmy Award winner Lonny Price, brilliantly honored the classic tale while infusing it with fresh energy. The choreography by Lorin Latarro was dynamic and playful, particularly during the turtle dance sequence.

The packed theater included audience members of all ages, proving that you're never too old to enjoy this timeless story of adventure and imagination. Peter Pan at the Broward Center reminded us all why this high-flying musical has been captivating audiences for generations—it truly was an unforgettable evening of theatrical magic.

Peter Pan runs through May 18, 2025, at Broward Center for the Performing Arts and will then head to Toronto. Check out https://peterpanontour.com/tour-dates/ for more on the show.

Here are some snap shots of opening night at Broward Center for the Performing Arts. I attended with my son, Patrick Henry, and we had a blast! This was his first full-length Broadway musical and he loved her second of it.
