Matthew Morrison brought his Rhythms & Revelations tour to the Broward Center's intimate Amaturo Theater last month filling every seat with fans eager to see the Tony-nominated actor trade his most famous fictional classroom for a live stage all his own. The show, which Morrison has described as a deeply personal departure from his previous concert work, wove together Broadway ballads, pop anthems, and candid storytelling in a format that leaned heavily on vulnerability and connection with the crowd. Best known for playing the earnest, often over-caffeinated Mr. Schuester on Glee, Morrison drew on a career that spans Hairspray, The Light in the Piazza, South Pacific, and Finding Neverland to deliver a set that reminded the packed house he has always been more than a television face. The Amaturo's cozy 590-seat configuration made the evening feel less like a concert and more like a conversation, the kind of up-close encounter where the gap between performer and audience practically disappears.
