BeBe Winans didn't just play the Dreyfoos Concert Hall on June 13, he moved in for the night. The sold-out crowd got a warm hello and, from there, a massive theater felt like a family kitchen table. The six-time Grammy winner mixed rich, soulful vocals with storytelling: his father's advice to find his own voice, casually directing Stevie Wonder in the studio, writing hits alone in parking lots. He got real about grief too, and the room went quiet when he talked about losing Whitney Houston. A few more old-school hand-clapping numbers would've sealed it, but the spirit carried the night.
